My first exposure to Dan's music was in 1977. I was staying at my parent's house in Bloomington, Illinois for the summer. I was working as a bartender at Fanny's Trolley, making just enough money to buy new LPs every Friday, while also saving up for my one-way trip to Los Angeles in the fall. One Friday I walked into the record store and asked the clerk for something new that was good, and he handed me Nether Lands. I went back the next day and asked the same clerk for everything else he had by Dan, and I walked out with Home Free, Souvenirs, and Captured Angel. The rest, as they say, is history. I've been a devoted fan ever since.
