"Ah, Colorado. A big breakthrough in my writing occurred my first winter in the Rocky Mountains. I guess all the classical music I had absorbed finally found its way to the surface. When we recorded the orchestra (at a Burbank movie stage) I did a major rewrite and kept 69 pieces two hours overtime. How grand to be young, extravagant, and totally unconcious of budgetary concerns."-Dan Fogelberg, from the liner notes in Portrait. 
Photography by Andy Katz Dan said once in an interview that he thought he had finally produced a "grown-up" album with Nether Lands. Lush and detailed with well-arranged orchestration, this album is like Captured Angel on steroids. It would seem that the orchestration Dan had intended for Captured Angel came to fruition on Nether Lands, after a months-long bout with writer's block.
