Dan singing, "Leader Of The Band," performed in August during his last tour in 2003. I missed this tour, but in 2001 in Vevay, IN, Debbie and I had front row center seats. We were literally 10 feet away from Dan. My father had just passed away, and when he played this song, tears were streaming down my face. Dan looked right at me and kept his focus. What a professional. I'll bet he witnessed that scene many times during his 31 year career.

Here's a real treat for you. This is a full live performance that was recorded from a radio broadcast on WZZQ radio at the beginning of Dan's career, circa 1974. It isn't much of a video, but the audio is of fairly good quality, although there is some drop out on the tape. The show was recorded at a theater in Jackson Mississippi. Those of us who are used to hearing Dan talk in a low voice will be a bit surprised at how much of a "high talker" (no pun intended) he was in those days. The concert was not post-produced, so there are no studio effects applied to Dan's singing. You get the real feel of the original performance. He talks quite a bit during the show, and you can detect a slight southern accent in his voice as he jokes around with the audience. Dan switches back and forth from the guitar to the piano as usual. Dan sings some songs you may have never heard before, so I'm sure you will enjoy this as much as I did.
